Frequently Asked Delaware Storage Questions

If you cannot locate the answer to your question here or in the "Tips & Helpful Information" section, either email us or give us a call. We will be happy to help you with your Lewes storage questions.

  • What are your hours?
The office is open 10 - 3:30 Monday to Friday (we do run an occasional errand to the bank or post office, so call ahead if you are making a special trip) and evenings and weekends by request. Please call if you need to make an appointment during non-business hours. We make every effort to offer hours convenient to you.
  • What hours can I get to the storage unit?
Once you are a tenant, you have access through the keypad at the gate from 5 am to 11 pm 7 days a week, 365 days a year, except in heavy snow, until we have been able to clear the facility for access.
  • How do I rent a storage unit?
Call our office. Verify availability and determine the size you will need. Schedule a time to come in. We will go over the rental agreement, show you the unit and explain the gate operating procedures.
  • Is there a minimum rental time?
Yes. It is a one month minimum. Beyond that, we prorate you out provided you give notice of your move out date, payments are current, and the unit is left clean, undamaged, and all locks are removed.
  • Is there a deposit?
We charge a $25 REFUNDABLE security deposit. When you move out, the deposit is refunded provided that the unit is left clean, undamaged, all locks have been removed, and notice has been given.
  • What about locks?
Only cylinder locks are used at our facility. They are $10 each. They come with 3 keys. The customer keeps all the keys. We do not have a master key, so keep your keys in a safe place. We do have a key that will overlock the lock. That is, it will turn a portion of the lock so that your key will not work. That is used in the case of late payments only. These cylinder locks fit flush with the latching mechanism so that they cannot be cut or forced open. They are very secure. They are much more effective than any padlock or disc lock.
  • What do I need to rent a unit?
You will need photo identification, credit card or checking account, first month's rent, $25 security deposit, and $10 for the lock. You must have a verifiable current address and phone number.
  • When is the rent due?
The rent is due monthly on the date you move in. If you need it to be on a certain date, we can prorate your first months to get the rent due date falling on the desired date. Otherwise, the rent is due monthly, in advance, for the upcoming month. There is a late fee charged at 5 days past due. All tenants that are 5 days or more past due are locked out at the gate and the unit is overlocked until payment in full is received. We do not send a bill in the mail. We will email a bill if you select that option at move-in. You are given a rent reminder magnet and payment envelopes. You should place these right along with your car and mortgage payment books so you don't forget. We also recommend setting a reminder in your cell phone calendar. We also offer automatic credit card payments.
  • Outdoor spaces: What kind of things can be stored outside?
We only allow storage of licensed vehicles, campers boats and contractor trailers that are less than 10 years old, in good working order and well maintained. There may occasionally be an exception at the discretion and approval of the owners.
